Q1 Highschool

What is your impression of the first 9-weeks of high school?
I probably shouldn't be saying it, but high school seems easier than what I expected. My friends are all ranting about how many project are due and I'm sitting back with practically the easiest classes. Being in AOIT means that you have a minimal amount of homework, as with being in Health/PE.
Of course, there are always those sophomores who make nasty comments about freshmen because they want to seem "cool" but it's more amusing than scarring.

What has been difficult about the transition from middle school?
In middle school, in eighth grade, you were always with the oldest kids. You could do whatever you wanted and there would be sixth graders nodding their heads "uh-huh". But now you have to start from that bottom all over again. Of course, waking up early to catch the bus isn't much of a pro either.

What has been easy about the transition?
Since I have such a limited amount of time in the morning, I'd like to think that I've become slightly more responsible. Most of my friends are with me, except for my best friend, and I get home earlier.

What have you learned about yourself?
I'm a really independent. I knew about that when I was little, when I was always the girl in the corner doodling ducks or whatever, but now when I have the chance of working with people, I can't. It's weird really. I'm used to doing almost everything by myself.

ID Theft Faceoff

  1. If the stolen information includes your SSN (Social Security Number), you can place an "initial fraud alert" by calling one of the three nationwide consumer reporting companies.
  2. If someone has stolen information about your financial accounts, it's best to wait for several weeks to see what they do with it before taking any action.
  3. The names of the three nationwide consumer reporting companies are Equinox, ExperiCorps, and TransAmerica.
  4. One of the best ways to protect your identity is by using online passwords only you would know - like your mother's maiden name or the last four digits of your SSN (Social Security Number).
  5. The best way to get a free copy of your credit report is to file a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Request.
  6. If someone has stolen your identity, and then you notice that you're no longer receiving bills from creditors, this is a sign that your identity has been restored.

Trends and Factors

What 3 trends do you see in computer evolution? AND Why?

  • An invention is "improved upon" with the idea of making it more mobile or efficient.
  • There are multiple divisions coming out of one main point, sort of like evolution. Each person thinks that their idea is more efficient and so refuses to accept the other inventions without a bit of tweaking and personalization.
  • Most of computer evolution revolved around numbers and knowing simple maths. It just seems to be the process of making the numbers work out in a quicker way. What can I say? Humans are impatient.

Name 3 factors that drive technological innovation?
       Money, Curiosity, Stubbornness
